Jacob left Canaan with very little, under cover of night, avoiding sure death at the hand of his brother. He found favor in the land of Haran, among his mother’s brethren, married two wives and had eleven children and acquired flocks of sheep and goats. After 20 years of servitude to Laban, Jacob felt the resentment of Laban’s sons, and the disgust of Laban’s daughters, and became restless. The sons thought Jacob had robbed their father, and the daughters thought that their father had robbed them of their inheritance. God told Jacob it was time to return to Canaan and fulfill his destiny. He packed up his possessions, his wives and children, and left again under cover of night, so to speak. Rachel took her Father’s household idols, and they made three days journey toward Canaan before Laban even knew they were gone.
Laban chased them down , but not before God warned him in a dream to not attack, physically or verbally, when he found Jacob. The meeting was much more civil because of God’s warning. They parted company on good terms and Jacob headed on toward his destiny.
What from your past is chasing you on the way to your destiny? You may think that it is never going to leave you alone, but if you trust God and move toward His destiny for you, then God will speak to the hindrance and turn it into a blessing. He will help you leave the mess you are in right now with more than you had when you got into that mess. He can turn the mess into a miracle!
