The design for the priestly garments was followed specifically by the artisans.  The Lord’s instructions to Moses were carried out exactly in order to obey God.  The priests were to be dressed in expensive, beautiful clothing as they served before the Lord.  They were given specific ways in order to minister and even to appear, and they obeyed strictly those commands.  It is important to know that the vestments were made of purple, scarlet, blue, white, and even gold thread, but it is even more important to understand two other principles.

First, the priests were to bring God their best, a perfect sacrifice unto the Lord.  But they were even to come dressed in their best.  What a powerful statement:  even there clothing must reflect their reverence for and honor of the God they served!  Second, they obeyed God to the letter.  While we sometimes do not have a truly clear picture of the will of God, we definitely hear from God at times in ways that are very clear.  When God speaks, we should be absolutely attentive, and then follow His instructions to the letter.  This is for His glory, and for our good.  When we obey God, we not only glorify Him as the Lord of the Universe, but we also elicit the blessings of God that come from obedience to His will.  Bring God your best, and obey His word!
