Offerings with Restitution were designed by the Lord to make up for crimes, intentional and unintentional, that cost the victim.  The priests would determine the amount of money necessary for restitution and then the criminal would pay the amount required.  The principal of restitution is a powerful picture of how sin or crime requires payment.  We cannot pay that price by ourselves.  As a matter of fact, the payment for sin could only come from a sinless sacrifice.  Jesus made that sacrifice.

However, in practical daily living, it is important to each individual to understand the cost of our sin, and to make every effort to made amends for the sins we have committed and the crimes laid to our account.  When we understand the ramifications of our actions, we should–as Christians–be willing to make the best of bad situations and pay it back when possible.
