In time of harvest, the firstfruits of the harvest were to be brought to the Lord as an offering. It would be waved before the Lord and then the individual or family could partake of the harvest.
50 days after the Feast of Firstfruits came the next grain offering, along with seven lambs for a burnt offering. This would be the second time that God would be honored during the Harvest Season.
The principle at work here is one of tithing and honoring God with your increase. When the blessings of God come into the life of a family serving God, then there should be a recognition of the source of that blessing. Tithe and give, and trust God wholeheartedly, then the firstfruits will be plenteous, and the weeks will be prosperous!
