During the Feast of Tabernacles, the Israelites would come to Jerusalem and dwell in tents and eat of the best fruits of the land for seven days.  This began on the fifteenth day of the eighth month with a Sabbath, and would continue for seven days until the eighth day, another Sabbath.  This feast was to commemorate the Passover, when the Israelites left Egypt and dwelt in the wilderness.

Why go to so much trouble, you may ask?  The Passover was a watershed event, a poignant memory of the delivering power of God.  The Israelites based their faith in God largely on God’s power to deliver them from Egypt and give them the Promised Land.  Therefore, they commemorated it visually and physically so that all could remember what God had done.  We should think back to the deliverance milestones in our lives and be cognizant of the wonderful power of God working in our lives.  When you have problems, it is the memory of God’s deliverance in the past that can build your faith to believe for deliverance today.  Make some markers for yourself to commemorate blessings of days gone by in order to combat the doubt that would try to get in the way of today’s miracles!
