This chapter chronicles Israel’s movements since their exodus from Egypt.  It shows them moving from Egypt (Rameses) to Succoth to Etham, then to Pi Hahiroth and Migdol.  Other cities or villages where they camped are Marah, Elim, the Red Sea, the Wilderness of Sin, Dophkah, Alush, Rephidim, Sinai, Kibroth Hattaavah, Hazeroth, Rithmah, Rimmon Perez, Libnah, Rissah, Kehelathah, Mount Shepher, Haradah, Makheloth, Tahath, Terah, Mithkah, Hashomonah, Moseroth, Bene Jaakan, etc., etc.  I cannot even fathom all the places to which they traveled and where they camped.  It was an amazing journey.  Why did they need to record all these locations and they journey of Israel to the promised land?

One thing the Jews do very well is celebrate their history.  This is important because their history was a record of what God had done in the life of the community.  Nearly every festival, feast, and celebration recognized some victory or event in the life of Israel.  It is a lesson we can learn.  Remember, appreciate, celebrate, because God is good!
