Moses recounts the division of land to the tribes who would stay on the Eastern side of the Jordan (Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh).  Then he reminds the Israelites of the opportunity lost when Israel refused to take the land 40 years earlier.  Finally, Moses tells of how he desired to enter the Promised Land, but God was angry with him over the Israelites lack of faith.  Therefore, he could not enter.  Instead, he encouraged Joshua to lead the children in.  God would allow Moses to see the land from the top of Pisgah, but he would not enter in.

Moses made some mistakes along the way, but he was still perhaps the greatest leader and the greatest prophet of Israel.  He took them to the edge of the land of promise, and got them ready for the possession of such.  Sometimes, we are part of the plan of God, but may not see it through to the completion, because God has someone else in line to complete the plan.  That does not mean that God is punishing or letting someone down, but that God’s plans are bigger than man.  We must allow God to be God, and we must follow Him as far as He leads us, then trust Him for the rest.
