God’s blessings were promised to those who keep God’s commandments. The promises God granted were: love, blessings, fruitfulness in childbearing, gardening, cattle, etc. God also promised to keep barrenness, sickness, and disease from them. He promised to lay them on their enemies, and give Israel victory in battler.
He further promised them victory over all the nations in Canaan. He promised to hand their kings over to Israel, and to drive out all enemy armies. They were to destroy all the people, drive them out, and then destroy all their idols. They were not to take their enemies’ silver or gold, and thereby avoid abomination.
They were to obey every commandment of God, and remember the wilderness sojourn, where their clothes did not wear out, and they were sustained in the wilderness. God had brought them this far, and now they were about to inherit the land of Promise. They will have all they need and then some. However, God warns them against letting their hearts be lifted up and forgetting God. When they are reminded of the delivering power of God, their hearts will be turned back to Him.
The history of God’s salvation of His people is one woven with problems and solutions. God can give you the victory if you listen and obey.
