The mutilated, the illegitimate, and the foreigner shall not be allowed in the camp. However, the Edomites and the Egyptians should be accepted. The camp site itself should be kept from unclean things. When the army goes out to battle, they were to keep themselves from wicked things. Those who become unclean should stay out of the camp until evening, then wash with water and then come into the camp. They would keep a shovel outside the camp to cover their refuse. The reason for the need for a clean and separate camp was due to the fact that the Lord God walks in the midst of the camp. Therefore, the camp must be holy.
While the restrictions against who can be a part of the kingdom of God are not as strict as the restrictions on being a Jew, it is still important to live a life that is holy and clean before God. It is important to, even in our failures, to seek God wholly and repent from our sins and live covered by the blood.
