Moses is 120 years old at the time of this Scripture.  Also, God told Moses that he would not be allowed to enter the Promised Land due to his disobedience.  The Lord would be crossing over the Jordan before the children of Israel.  He would destroy the nations from before them, and the Israelites would dispossess the nations.  Joshua would lead them and they should take the land just as God had commanded them.

Moses called Joshua and instructed him to be “strong and of good courage.”  He was now the anointed leader of Israel and God would go before him and never leave him or forsake him.

Transitions occur in life.  Leaders step aside and new ones arise.  However, God is in control of our lives as we submit them to Him.  We must trust God whether we are the outgoing leader who must deal with the end of an era, or else the new leader who must step up to the task at hand.  Also, there are adjustments that must be made by those who are being led.  In whatever place you find yourself, be secure in the fact that God is in control.  He will take you through every transition and change in life.
