The Meaning of Motherhood
Love Your Mama!

My mom taught me wonderful lessons.

She taught me about counting:
She taught me to count at least to three 1,2,3

My mother taught me to appreciate a job well done:
If you’re going to kill each other do it outside I just finished cleaning

My mother taught me to pray:
You better pray that will come out of the carpet

My mother taught me about time travel:
If you don’t straighten up, I’m going to knock you into the middle of next week!

My mother taught me logic:
Because I said so, that’s why

My mother taught me MORE LOGIC.
“If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you’re not going to the store with me.”

My mother taught me foresight
Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you’re in an accident

My mother taught me irony:
Keep crying, and I’ll give you something to cry about!

My mother taught me about stamina
You’ll sit there until all the spinach is gone

My mother taught me about the weather
this room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it

My mother taught me the circle of life
I brought you into this world and I can take you out

My mother taught me about behavior modification
stop acting like your father

My mother taught me about envy
there are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don’t have wonderful parents like you do

My mother taught me anticipation
just wait until we get home

My mother taught me about receiving
You are going to get it when you get home

My mother taught me about medical science
If you don’t stop crossing your eyes the wind will change and you will stay that way

My mother taught me how to become an adult
If you don’t eat your vegetables you’ll never grow up.

My mother taught me about the science of OSMOSIS.
“Shut your mouth and eat your supper.”

My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM.
“Just you look at the dirt on the back of your neck!”

My mother taught me about HYPOCRICY.
“If I told you once, I’ve told you a million times, don’t exaggerate!”

My mother taught me ESP.
“Put your sweater on; don’t you think I know when you are cold?”

My father taught me HUMOR.
“When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don’t come running to me.”

My mother taught me GENETICS.
“You’re just like your father.”

My mother taught me about my ROOTS.
“Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?”

My mother taught me WISDOM.
“When you get to be my age, you’ll understand.

My father taught me about JUSTICE.
“One day you’ll have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you!”

If mom ain’t happy then nobody’s happy!!!!

The World Needs Mothers

Judges 5:6–7 (NKJV) 6 “In the days of Shamgar, son of Anath, In the days of Jael, The highways were deserted, And the travelers walked along the byways. 7 Village life ceased, it ceased in Israel, Until I, Deborah, arose, Arose a mother in Israel.

Some Famous Biblical Mothers

A Tale of Two Mothers

1 Kings 3:16–28 (NKJV)
16 Now two women who were harlots came to the king, and stood before him. 17 And one woman said, “O my lord, this woman and I dwell in the same house; and I gave birth while she was in the house. 18 Then it happened, the third day after I had given birth, that this woman also gave birth. And we were together; no one was with us in the house, except the two of us in the house.

Mothers (parents) can be imperfect, even outside the will of God, but God cares.

The Enemy is on the Hunt for your Children

19 And this woman’s son died in the night, because she lay on him. 20 So she arose in the middle of the night and took my son from my side, while your maidservant slept, and laid him in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

Satan wants your children. If he can get you distracted from your walk with God, then he will also put a huge dent in your child’s ability to follow God. If you are not leading your child in the ways of God, then the enemy can come by night and steal your child from your position of protection.

Sometimes You Feel Like You Have Lost Your Children

21 And when I rose in the morning to nurse my son, there he was, dead. But when I had examined him in the morning, indeed, he was not my son whom I had borne.”

If you feel as if you have lost your children, it is not too late.

Take Your Child’s Case to the King

22 Then the other woman said, “No! But the living one is my son, and the dead one is your son.”
And the first woman said, “No! But the dead one is your son, and the living one is my son.”
Thus they spoke before the king.

Take your kids to the King.

Pray for your children every day.

Never stop caring about their souls.

Never think there is no hope.

God Knows Your True Heart

23 And the king said, “The one says, ‘This is my son, who lives, and your son is the dead one’; and the other says, ‘No! But your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.’ ” 24 Then the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought a sword before the king. 25 And the king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to one, and half to the other.”

Our actions affect others.

Sin is never an isolated incident.

What if the mother had behaved selfishly, not wanting to give in to the other mother?
Her baby would have died.

What are you doing to keep your child alive?

Don’t Ever Stop Pleading for Your Children

26 Then the woman whose son was living spoke to the king, for she yearned with compassion for her son; and she said, “O my lord, give her the living child, and by no means kill him!”
But the other said, “Let him be neither mine nor yours, but divide him.”

Winston Churchill – Never give up

According to Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations, the speech was delivered on October 29, 1941. And he wasn’t Sir Winston till 1953. And what he really said was, “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”

God Will Hear Your Prayers; Don’t Give Up!

27 So the king answered and said, “Give the first woman the living child, and by no means kill him; she is his mother.”
28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice.

God will make a way. God will intercede. God will never quit, so neither should you!

Pray that you might be the good mother (or father)

Today and Every Day:  Honor Your Mother

Deuteronomy 27:16 (NKJV) 16 ‘Cursed is the one who treats his father or his mother with contempt.’ “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’

On this wonderful day of celebration and appreciation, be sure to bless your mother and see the blessing that she is to you and yours.
