King Ahasuerus became even more great, imposing tribute on the land and on the islands of the sea.  In his kingdom, Mordecai became second in command to Ahasuerus, great among the Jews.  He sought the good of his people, and spoke peace to all his countrymen.

Just think, a few days before Mordecai seemed destined for a hangman’s gallows and his people a certain death by genocide.  But God intervened, and he and his countrymen were spared.  Even though Esther spoke for the Jews and the king responded, it was God who worked in the situation to protect and bless His people.  And God elevated the station of not only Esther–to put her in the office of Queen–but also Mordecai, to have influence in Persia in order to watch over the people of God for years to come.  When you feel that all is stacked against you, know that God is working on your behalf.  Do not lose heart, but stand firm in the promises of God.  He will raise you up and place you where you need to be in the kingdom!
