1 Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!
2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us,
And the truth of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord!
There are three things to notice here. First, praise is appropriate for everyone, and actually is commanded. Whether Gentile or Jew, all peoples are commanded to praise the Lord. Second, the kindness of the Lord is great toward us, exhibiting mercy to undeserving people. God grants us mercy, unmerited forgiveness and understanding. Third, the Lord’s truth is eternal. God is not flighty or ambivalent. His truth is not culturally bound. Rather, God’s truth endures through all of history. In light of these powerful truths, praise the Lord!
