Hebrews 4:11–13 (NKJV)
11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
How Then Shall We Live? was part of the title of the Children’s program this Christmas. How can we know how to live unless we know the Word of God? It is the pattern, the road map, the spiritual GPS (Godly Positioning System) by which we can navigate the world before us.
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
What makes the Bible qualified to be our life guide?
It is from God, not just men.
It is alive and organic, rather than a staid and static book
It is powerful, enlivened and empowered by the Holy Spirit of God
It looks into the soul in ways that man cannot
It knows and critiques the heart of man
13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
We will one day give account unto God for our thoughts, intents, actions, and words. Nothing is hidden from the eyes of God. Allowing the Word of God to know you now will give you the knowledge to be like Christ now. Prayer and Communion with God will enable you, by the Holy Spirit, to live for God now. Knowing the Word of God provides you with the criteria by which we will be judged, and gives you the ability to conform to that Word and be judged faithful.
