Boaz is identified early in this passage as a rich relative of Elimelech.  Ruth goes out to glean in the fields, and happens upon the fields of Boaz.  He comes by to observe the harvesting and sees her, inquires as to her identity, and then instructs her not to glean in anyone else’s fields but his, that his men will take good care of her and protect her.  He had her eat at his table, and told his men to leave extra grain for her to gather.  When she returned to Naomi, Naomi asked her in whose fields she had gleaned.  When she told her it was Boaz, she became excited and told her who he was, and encouraged her to stay in his fields, as well.

Not long after that, Naomi instructed Ruth to wash and anoint herself, put on her best garment, and go down to the threshing floor of Boaz.  She further told her to wait until he finished eating and drinking, and then when he is lying down, go inm uncover his feet, and lie down. Then she should do whatever he tells her to do.  She did just what Naomi told her, and at midnight he startled awake and saw her there.  He asked who she was and she identified herself and asked him to take her in, for he was a close relative.  He praised her for not chasing after a younger man, but made her aware that there was one relative closer in relation that he.  He told her that he would discuss the matter with him, and then told her to lie there until morning.  She did that, and arose to leave early, so as to avoid detection.  Boaz filled her shawl with grain and sent her on her way.  When she returned to her mother-in-law, she told her all that had happened.  Naomi told her that Boaz would probably settle the matter before the day ended.

When you take worry and self-dependence out of the equation, problem-solving gets much easier.  God is in control of the life of a person of faith.  Trust Him and he will guide your steps and you will find favor.  Whether you are looking for a mate, or just a solution to a problem, God is the answer,  Trust Him, seek wise counsel, and do nothing rash.  God will work it out!
