Sow Bountifully 2 Corinthians 9:6–15 (NKJV)

Sermon notes from the April 3rd 10:30 am service at the Kannapolis Church of God, preached by Lead Pastor, Dr. Greg Sloop

The Reciprocal Blessing

6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Luke 6:37–38 (NKJV)
37 “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Giving little produces little return
Giving much opens the doors for bountiful blessings
What is the purpose of your heart?
Don’t do it because God said so (although that should be enough)
Don’t do it because you feel obligated
Give cheerfully and with a heart of gratitude

The Reason We Are Blessed

8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

When you trust God, God’s abundance will be poured out on you.
Sufficiency is from the Lord, and is provided for the purpose of doing good works.
God gives so that you can give, and God gives in proportion to your giving
How much do you trust God?

The Source of Our Blessing

10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.

God takes your seed and multiplies it.
Therefore, whatever you sow is what God will increase.
God provides for your needs, but then provides for other’s needs through you.
You are enriched for liberality. In other words, you are given much so that you can liberally give to others, to God’s church, to the ministry.
And the gifts of God to you, and through you to others, gives cause for thanksgiving by all.
