Jeroboam’s son, Abijah, became ill.  Jeroboam sent his wife to Ahijah the prophet to see if the child would live.  She disguised herself and went to Shiloh.  The Lord told Ahijah, who was nearly blind, that the woman was Jeroboam’s wife.  He proceeded to tell what the Lord had said, that Jeroboam’s house would be judged.  All his family would be destroyed and the kingdom would be taken from Jeroboam because he did not follow God like David.  The dogs and birds would eat all that belong to Jeroboam.  Then God would raise up a new king over Israel to cut off the house of Jeroboam.  They also would be dispersed beyond the Euphrates River.  Jeroboam’s wife left Ahijah and returned to Tirzah.  When she stepped over the threshold, the child died.  They buried him, and eventually Nadab, Jeroboam’s son, reigned in his place.

Don’t disregard the blessings of the Lord.  When God opens the door to a blessing, do not neglect him or worship other gods.  The blessings of the Lord, contrary to some opinions, ARE contingent on a relationship with Christ.  You cannot expect great blessings without a good, solid, holy relationship with God.  Walk with God, and He will walk with you, and the blessings of the Lord–large or small–will be supplied!
