Freedom (John 8:31–36)

John 8:31–36 (NKJV)

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Just like we heard from the Word last week, it is essential to be plugged in to the vine, into the source of life.

Jesus says to those who believe in Him, that they must abide in His Word. The Word is the Truth, the inspired, inerrant message of God to humanity on Earth.

That Truth is the only thing that can bring you freedom. The Word is the Truth. Know the Truth, Know Freedom!

33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”

Don’t rest on the time you have been a Christian, or the years you have been in church.

You can be lost in the Father’s house!

34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Your status does not depend on your location, but on your condition.

If you are living in bondage to sin or habit or addiction, then you are a slave to sin.

To be a son, you must be made free by the Son.

Are you ready to be free?
