Zechariah 3:6–10 (NKJV)

Then the Angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, saying, “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

‘If you will walk in My ways,

And if you will keep My command,

Then you shall also judge My house,

And likewise have charge of My courts;

I will give you places to walk

Among these who stand here.

The Lord instructs Joshua, the high priest, to walk in the ways of God and keep His commandments.  He has just given Joshua fresh robes and a clean turban, so now He command Him to keep them that way.  If so, He will judge the house of God in the restored kingdom.

8 ‘Hear, O Joshua, the high priest,

You and your companions who sit before you,

For they are a wondrous sign;

For behold, I am bringing forth My Servant the BRANCH.

stone-with-seven-eyes9 For behold, the stone

That I have laid before Joshua:

Upon the stone are seven eyes.

Behold, I will engrave its inscription,’

Says the Lord of hosts,

‘And I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

10 In that day,’ says the Lord of hosts,

‘Everyone will invite his neighbor

Under his vine and under his fig tree.’ ”

This eschatological statement of restoration is tied to the image of a stone with seven eyes laid before Joshua (who respresents the priesthood and people of God).  The seven eyes could be literal eyes, signifying God’s oversight of His people.  However, it could describe seven facets of a precious stone.  The Hebrew word for eye here could also be translated fountain, signifying the cleansing of God through this stone.  Either way, this stone signifies the cleasing and restoration of God’s earthly kingdom through a holy priesthood and a willing and obedient people.  With this restoration will come prosperity and peace.

Today, God longs to have a people who experience prosperity and peace.  The revival that is needed is available.  However, that revival will only come when the people of God seek His face in repentance and pray for that revival.  Lord, let revival come!  Let the presence of God come!  Let the people of God rejoice and be a peace for your are our Lord!
