Zechariah 8:6–8 (NKJV)
6 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days,
Will it also be marvelous in My eyes?’
Says the Lord of hosts.
Continuing with this decalogue of promises, the Lord moves to number four. This promise is that nothing is impossible for Yahweh. The word “marvelous” here means that is it something that seems impossible. The remnant marvels at the idea that this restoration could occur. However, God asks them if they think He is unable to do this? Would He marvel at this miracle of restoration? The answer is a definite “No.” God sees nothing as impossible. God will perform what He promises to do.
7 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Behold, I will save My people from the land of the east
And from the land of the west;
8 I will bring them back,
And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
They shall be My people
And I will be their God,
In truth and righteousness.’
The fifth promise is that God will gather His people in and renew the covenant He made with them. “I will save my people” and “I will bring them back” is His promise to gather them from the nations in which they were scattered. “They shall be my people and I will be their God” is His promise of the restoration of the covenant.
Again, no matter what you may be going through, the Lord’s promises are ripe with restoration and joy. Do not allow the sin you have committed, or the strife thrust upon you by your enemies, to stop you from believing the promises of God. He can do what He promises. He is not weak or anemic. He is strong. He will bring you back from the land of exile. He will restore His covenant relationship with you. Repent and turn to God and He will turn to you!
