Seek His Face (Psalm 105)

1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!
2 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works!
3 Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
4 Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!
5 Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
6 O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!

Psalm 105 (NKJV)

Praise the Lord

  • 1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!
    • Thankful
    • Praiseful
    • Broadly Attested

Sing to the Lord

  • 2 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works!
    • Sing praise songs to Him
    • Sing songs that tell of His works

Rejoice in the Lord

  • 3 Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
    • Let the glory be His
    • Rejoice in the goodness of God while you seek Him

Seek the Lord

  • 4 Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!
    • Be specific and focused on Him
    • Seek His Face, not His Hand

Remember the Lord

  • 5 Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
    • Remember His works
    • Remember His wonders
    • Remember His word

Chosen of the Lord

  • 6 O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!
    • His seed (children)
    • His servant
    • His chosen

Takeaway Thoughts

  • God calls us to a prayerful life
  • He longs for praising, singing, rejoicing, seeking, and remembering in our prayer life.
  • He wants us to live and pray in recognition of and in light of the fact that we are chosen by Him to serve Him.
