OUR SHARED DREAM (PART FOUR OF THE KANNAPOLIS CHURCH OF GOD DREAM STATEMENT)…
Our common purpose—to be the incarnate body of Christ—draws us together in unity. As an expression of our gratitude for lives free from the bondage of sin, we offer ourselves as witnesses and servants of Jesus Christ to the community and to the world.

Body of Christ
- “Our common purpose—to be the incarnate body of Christ…”
- Romans 12:4–5 (NKJV) 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
- 1 Corinthians 12:12–14 (NKJV) 12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For in fact the body is not one member but many.
- 1 Corinthians 12:27–31 (NKJV) 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.
- Ephesians 4:11–13 (NKJV) 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
- Ephesians 5:23 (NKJV) 23 For…Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.
Unity
- “…draws us together in unity.”
- Psalm 133:1–3 (NKJV) 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing—life forevermore.
- Ephesians 4:3 (NKJV) 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; - Acts 1:14 (NKJV) 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
Acts 2:1, 46 (NKJV) 1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
Gratitude
- “As an expression of our gratitude for lives free from the bondage of sin…”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (NKJV) 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Psalm 140:13 (NKJV). 13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence. - Psalm 116:12–14 (NKJV) 12 What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me? 13 I will take up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. 14 I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all His people.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (NKJV) 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
