The King of Glory and His Kingdom

A Psalm of David.

1 The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the waters.

3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive blessing from the LORD,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek Your face.

Selah

Psalm 24:1-6
  • Lord, You created the earth, sustain the earth, and will one day redeem the earth.
  • You own the earth, O LORD!
  • It is Yours, and so are all the people who live in it.
  • The oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers are all Yours as well. There is nothing that does not belong to You.
  • Who may sit with You, God, in the mountain of Your habitation?
  • Who may stand before You in Your holiness?
  • You are pure and holy, beyond our ability to comprehend, much less appreciate.
  • The only candidate worthy of Your presence must have clean hands, pure hearts, singly worshipping You and not idols. Your worshipper cannot even be in the practice of lying!
  • This worshipper will receive Your blessings and Your righteousness.
  • Those who seek Your face are blessed, and grafted into Your holy lineage.
  • Lord, help me to be that man. Show me the way to cleanness in my heart and actions.
  • Let me stand in Your presence, no, let me bow in Your presence, for I am not worthy to stand before You.
  • Cleanse me, make me righteous, and I will serve You!

7 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
The LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts,
He is the King of glory.

Selah

Psalm 24:7-10
  • Look up! Open Your hearts and minds to the coming King!
  • Lord, I am looking for You.
  • In the midst of my daily grind, in the throes of despair, in the joyous moments, I look for You.
  • My eyes are keenly on the horizon. I have opened the windows and doors of my soul.
  • Come in, LORD, for You are welcome and expected. The table is set, the house is clean, I long for Your presence.
  • I worship You, O LORD. I give You honor. I worship You as You come into the gates of my soul.
  • I anxiously await with joy the coming of the Lord now and in the rapture.
  • You are the LORD of hosts, You are the King of glory.
  • I worship You and look for You. Come in, O LORD, that I may bow before You and worship.
