24 Then they despised the pleasant land;
They did not believe His word,
25 But complained in their tents,
And did not heed the voice of the LORD.
26 Therefore He raised up His hand in an oath against them,
To overthrow them in the wilderness,
27 To overthrow their descendants among the nations,
And to scatter them in the lands.
- Lord, I do not want to reject Your blessings or seem ungrateful.
- I want to hear Your word and obey it to the nth degree.
- Do not judge me. I will obey You and follow You all my days.
- Keep my children safe and walk us through all of our challenges. We believe in You!
28 They joined themselves also to Baal of Peor,
And ate sacrifices made to the dead.
29 Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds,
And the plague broke out among them.
30 Then Phinehas stood up and intervened,
And the plague was stopped.
31 And that was accounted to him for righteousness
To all generations forevermore.
- I will not worship false gods.
- I will not sacrifice to idols.
- I do not wish for Your anger, but rather seek Your approval.
- Keep me from sickness and plague.
- Keep me in Your good will and watch over me in all my later generations.
32 They angered Him also at the waters of strife,
So that it went ill with Moses on account of them;
33 Because they rebelled against His Spirit,
So that he spoke rashly with his lips.
- Let me not be ungrateful. Let me not bring condemnation on my people.
- I will not rebel, but I will follow You.
- Help me to always hear Your voice clearly and obey You in all things.
- You are God. I will follow You and I will glorify Your name.You are a great and mighty God and I will make You my Lord in all things!
