Universal Truths for Young and Old: Psalm 37:23–29 (NKJV)

Notes from Sunday PM KCOG Worship Service
Psalm 37:23–29 (NKJV)
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the Lord upholds him with His hand.

The favor of the Lord comes through goodness and righteousness.

The steps, the direction, the future, the fulfillment of the plan of God are all ordered, designed, and carried out by the Lord Himself when we are living in the will of God.

The people of God will be blessed and protected and restored in spite of our circumstances. The Lord upholds the righteous with His hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old;
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread.
26 He is ever merciful, and lends;
And his descendants are blessed.

The plight of young and old are alike.

When famine hits, young and old go hungry

When crime strikes, young and old suffer

When the economy is strong, everyone prospers

But God watches over his own children in all times, good or bad.

The righteous shall not be forsaken. His mercy is ever available, his blessings do not end.

27 Depart from evil, and do good;
And dwell forevermore.
28 For the Lord loves justice,
And does not forsake His saints;
They are preserved forever,
But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land,
And dwell in it forever.

We are All Called to a Life of Holiness and an Inheritance in God

All ages are called to a life of holiness. Depart from evil! Do good!
When you do, you can dwell forever!

God will not forget the relationship we develop and sustain with Him. Instead, He will preserve us and provide us an inheritance.

Unlike the rewards of the world—which pass away in time—the inheritance of the Lord is eternal, and will never pass away.
