After the death of David’s illegitimate son with Bathsheba, David comforted his wife, and had relations with her.  She became pregnant, and had a son who she named Solomon.  The Scripture said that the Lord loved him, and that He sent word to David and Bathsheba by the prophet Nathan, so they also called him Jedidiah (Beloved of the Lord).

This is such a poignant picture of the grace of God.  Although the sin of David cost his unborn child his life, God then gifted David and Bathsheba with another son, Solomon, who would become king of Israel one day. The Scripture even points out that God loved Solomon.  This shows how God can take someone who has committed a capital crime and forgive them of their sin and give them another chance.  God’s grace is greater than any sin!
