Asa reigned for forty-one years, and did right in the eyes of the Lord.  He destroyed idols, and cut down the Asherah image of his grandmother.  He did not remove the high places.  He brought the consecrated items into the house of the Lord.  He was at war with Israel all the days of his reign.  Baasha, king of Israel, began to build Ramah to keep Judah from leaving Jerusalem.  Asa made a treaty with Syria to withdraw from his alliance with Israel.  When he did, Baasha withdrew from Ramah.  When his reign ended, Asa died and his son Jehoshaphat reigned in His place.

Asa restored the right worship of God almost entirely.  He was shrewd, making the treaty to stop Baasha.  He pleased the Lord, even at the expense of his relationship with his grandmother.  How high do we stand?  How strong will we defend truth and right?  Let us take the example of Asa and stand for Christ at all times.  Blessings will follow!
