“Praise the Lord!” the psalmist proclaims as he opens up this psalm of acclaim to his Lord. His descriptions of the Lord include attributes such as greatness, honor, gloruy, righteousness, and wonderful works. He names God as a provider of food and heritage. His works are full of purity and justice. He redeems His people and keeps covenant with them. The psalmist finishes with a flourish:
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.
Remember the Lord’s marvelous works and give Him praise. This is the message of psalm 111, and should guide our conversations and actions on a daily basis. When God is glorified, men and women are drawn unto Him!
