According to Your Lovingkindness (Psalm 119: 153 – 160)

153 Consider my affliction and deliver me,For I do not forget Your law.

154 Plead my cause and redeem me;

Revive me according to Your word.

155 Salvation is far from the wicked,

For they do not seek Your statutes.

156 Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord;

Revive me according to Your judgments.

157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies,

Yet I do not turn from Your testimonies.

158 I see the treacherous, and am disgusted,

Because they do not keep Your word.

159 Consider how I love Your precepts;

Revive me, O Lord, according to Your lovingkindness.

160 The entirety of Your word is truth,

And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.

Revival continues to be a concern of the psalmist in this passage.  His afflictions at the hands of his persecutors and enemies are many.  He is disgusted by the treacherous, yet is enthralled by the word of God.  In his frustration and affliction, he turns his attention to God and His commandments.  He prays against his enemies, but concentrates his attention on the truth of God provided in His word.  His focus is on revival:  revival through the word, revival according to God’s judgments, revival according to His lovingkindness.  He seems to have moved from a reliance upon his own goodness and knowledge of the word to an understanding that revival is a blessing from God, not just a reward for right behavior.  God revives us, strengthens us, as we obey Him, but mostly as He loves us and bestows His best upon us in His lovingkindness.  Let God love you.  Let Him bless you.  Be a man or woman of the Word, but be His child and accept His provision by His grace.
