Another psalm begins with praise to the Lord. Praise is good, pleasant, and beautiful. Why should the listener praise the Lord? He builds up their cities, gathers the outcasts, heals the brokenhearted, knows the stars by name. He is mighty, infinite. He lifts up the humble and tears down the wicked. Praise the God who brings rain to make grass grow, he feeds the beasts of the field. God is not impressed with our strength, but rather in our awe of Him and our faith. God also strengthens your defenses, blesses your children, gives you peace and sustenance. His commands go through the earth, giving snow and then melting it when the season changes. God declares His word to His people, and those who rebel do not hear His voice.
This psalms reminds us of the many blessings that come from being one of God’s people. He provides and protects, He guards and guides. God is the blesser of His people. Therefore, His people should praise Him with all that is within them. God’s people should lift Him High, because His blessings overflow and His greatness is evident. Praise the Lord!
