John 6:14–15 (NKJV)
14 Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
15 Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.
John 6:14-15
On a few occasions, we find Jesus slipping through or away from a crowd to remain in the will and plan of God for His life. Once, He avoided them throwing Him off a cliff in disgust by simply walking through them untouched. This time, they wanted to set Him up as their king, and He simply walked away alone to the mountain nearby. This was just after He fed the five thousand with loaves and fish. They were on an emotional and spiritual high after seeing this amazing miracle. Plus, Jesus knew this was not the plan of God. Just as the crowd murdering Jesus would have thwarted the plan of God, so would them setting Him up as earthly king have done the same.
Jesus stayed the course and allowed the Father to guide His steps, not the people. So, whether the people (family, friends, church, ministry) want to kill you or want to make you king, do not let their voices distract you. Listen to the voice of God and obey Him. He will guide you to His perfect will, and empower you to fulfill it.
