Rare

Rare Word – At times in history, the word of God has been scarce or rare due to sinfulness or apathy on the part of man.
REVELATION – 1 Samuel 3:1 (NKJV) Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation.
INTERPRETATION – Daniel 2:11 (AMP) A rare and weighty thing indeed the king requires! None except the gods can reveal it to the king, and their dwelling is not with [human] flesh.

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.

Psalm 19:9-11

In this passage, David describes the value and the goodness of the word of God, encouraging the reader to read, cherish, and receive reward from it. In light of David’s words, the following thoughts are imperative:

• The Validity of the Word (Trustworthiness)
  • 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
    • It is holy
      • Holy and Perfect
        • Psalm 18:30 (NKJV) As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
        • Proverbs 30:5 (NKJV) Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
    • It is eternal
      • Hebrews 11:3 (NKJV)  By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
    • It is true
      • Truthful and Full of Righteous Instruction
        • Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV)  The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”

• The Value of the Word (Benefits)
  • 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
    • Desireable
    • Valuable
    • Delicacy
    • Luke 8:21 (NKJV) But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
    • Revelation 19:13 (NKJV) He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
    • Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

• The Virtue of the Word (Power)
  • 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.
    • Warning
      • Hosea 4:1 (NKJV)  Hear the word of the LORD, you children of Israel, for the LORD brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land:  “There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land.
    • Protection
      • Salvation by the Gospel
        • Luke 8:11 (NKJV)  “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
        • Acts 6:7 (NKJV)  Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
        • Acts 12:24 (NKJV)  But the word of God grew and multiplied.
        • Romans 10:17 (NKJV)  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
      • Protection Through the Power of the Word
        • 1 Timothy 4:4–5 (NKJV)  For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
        • 2 Timothy 2:9 (NKJV)  for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained.
        • Ephesians 6:17 (NKJV)  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
        • Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
