7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness,
That the bones You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.

  • Lord, in the midst of my realization of my guilt and sin, I recognize that I cannot cleanse myself.
  • Only You can cleanse me.
  • Take away my sin.
  • Wash me of my stains.
  • Forgive me and I will be glad.
  • I will hear joy when You make me holy again.
  • I will revive and see myself as You see me: unspotted by sin.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.

  • God do a work of transformation in my heart. Make it clean and pure.
  • Help me, I pray, to be consistent and dedicated to serving You.
  • Never leave me completely, O LORD. I know that I need Your Holy Spirit every day.
  • Restoration is my need. Allow me to see my joy return and flourish.
  • Prop me up when I am weak. Strengthen my arms and legs so that I may work for You.
  • I will declare Your works and Your truth to the lost that they might be saved.

14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.

  • Lord, I confess that I have hurt others. I am guilty.
  • Forgive me, Lord, and help me to see others’ needs as valid and important.
  • At Your hand I will see joy. I will rejoice in You, O LORD. You are the God of my salvation.
  • I will sing, I will speak, I will shout Your goodness to the masses.
  • I have no sacrifice that could cleanse me of sin. You have provided that.
  • So I will offer my praise and my worship with brokenness and humility.
  • That is the sacrifice You will receive. I offer it gladly.

18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion;
Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.

  • Lord, build Your kingdom in me.
  • Allow me to be Your habitation.
  • When I sacrifice myself to You, be pleased with my offering.
  • I long to be Yours completely, and to live in fellowship with You.
  • Receive me, I pray.
