An Invocation and a Doxology

To the Chief Musician. On Stringed Instruments. A Psalm. A Song.

1 God be merciful to us and bless us,
And cause His face to shine upon us,

Selah

  • God, I desire Your mercy and Your blessing.
  • I pray for Your countenance to shine as You look upon me.
  • I long to be in Your good grace. I desire Your acceptance and fellowship.
  • I pause and consider the great benefit of Your love and care.

2 That Your way may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.

3 Let the peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
4 Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy!
For You shall judge the people righteously,
And govern the nations on earth.

Selah

  • Your name and Your wonderful ways must be made known in all the earth!
  • Your salvation is the only salvation known among the nations.
  • I praise You, O mighty God. May every voice on earth praise You.
  • I desire the nations to sing gladly Your praises in every place.
  • You are the righteous judge, and You govern with grace and justice. May everyone submit to You and Your kingdom.
  • I meditate on Your great rule over the earth and the Kingdom of God.

5 Let the peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
6 Then the earth shall yield her increase;
God, our own God, shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us,
And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.

  • I praise You, O LORD, and I call all souls to praise You!
  • When we praise You, we shall see increase and praise You even more.
  • Lord, let us see Your greatness and let Your goodness come to us.
  • Bless us and make Your greatness known among all the earth.
  • I stand in awe of Your power and might, Your grace and mercy, and Your wonderful limitless love.
  • You are fearful and awesome, and I praise You for all Your mighty works. I worship You for all Your great attributes and glory. Thank You for Your love.
