Prayer for Relief from Adversaries

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. To Bring to Remembrance.

1 Make haste, O God, to deliver me!
Make haste to help me, O LORD!

2 Let them be ashamed and confounded
Who seek my life;
Let them be turned back and confused
Who desire my hurt.
3 Let them be turned back because of their shame,
Who say, “Aha, aha!”

  • Lord, I am desperate! I do not know if I will survive!
  • Please hurry to help me, O LORD!
  • I am attacked by other people and the devil works against me.
  • Stop them from their vicious attacks.
  • Help me see my physical enemies turn back, and destroy the works of Satan against me.
  • Confuse the efforts of my enemies and cause them to cower in shame for touching my life.
  • Let those who mocked me be mocked by their own feelings of shame.
  • Help me, Lord, before I die!

4 Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
And let those who love Your salvation say continually,
“Let God be magnified!”

5 But I am poor and needy;
Make haste to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O LORD, do not delay.

  • But Lord, as I walk through this life, I see good people as well.
  • Bless the people who seek Your face.
  • When my brothers and sisters rejoice in You and not this sinful world, let them have gladness of heart and joy unspeakable.
  • Let the redeemed glorify and magnify You, and let them lift up Your name.
  • I am thankful for the redeemed who seek You. They help me to have hope and succeed.
  • However, in this moment of my uncertainty, in my moment of poverty and need, human help is not enough.
  • I need You, O LORD!
  • Come to my rescue. Help me and deliver me. I cannot make it without You.
  • I praise You for Your help in my needy hour. Come quickly, Lord, lest I die.
