A Joyful Return to Zion
A Song of Ascents.
1 When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion,
We were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
And our tongue with singing.
Then they said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things for us,
And we are glad.
- Lord, Your deliverance makes my heart sing.
- Your gift of freedom is greater than a wonderful dream.
- I laugh and rejoice at the sight of my liberty.
- Everyone will rejoice when I return from bondage.
- I was glad when Your mercy released me from my prison.
- I was ecstatic when Your grace made me whole.
4 Bring back our captivity, O LORD,
As the streams in the South.5 Those who sow in tears
Shall reap in joy.
6 He who continually goes forth weeping,
Bearing seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing,
Bringing his sheaves with him.
- Lord, deliver me and all those whom I love.
- Bring us to a place of safety and comfort.
- Let the flow of my life be unencumbered and strong.
- Dry the tears of the sorrowful.
- Bring joy to the hearts of the weak.
- We will sow the seeds of Your word and Your promises.
- Let the seeds produce fruit and we will present it to You with great joy.
- You are our Savior, our Champion, our Provider.
