1 Deliver me, O LORD, from evil men;
Preserve me from violent men,
2 Who plan evil things in their hearts;
They continually gather together for war.
3 They sharpen their tongues like a serpent;
The poison of asps is under their lips.Selah
- Lord, when I am surrounded by evil and violent enemies, deliver me from their devices meant for my harm.
- Preserve me when I am under attack.
- Let their plans fall to nothing, and their war tactics be confounded.
- Let no one’s words harm me or my reputation.
- Let no poisonous arrow pierce my heart. Keep me safe in Your loving arms of strength.
- I will pause and think of Your deliverance, Your multiple rescues of my soul, Your healing power and Your grace. I thank You for all that You mean to me.
4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked;
Preserve me from violent men,
Who have purposed to make my steps stumble.
5 The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords;
They have spread a net by the wayside;
They have set traps for me.Selah
- Watch over my steps, that I may not fall.
- Keep me from evil and let them not trap my feet in their snares.
- Steady my feet on the path You have set before me.
- Let no net or rope catch me unaware, but help me to be vigilant in my journey.
- Guide my steps and guard my heart.
